What to Expect & Why A Mini Session Might Be Perfect for You
If you’re looking for a quick, beautiful way to update your family photos, mini sessions might be just what you need. Offered only a few times a year at specific locations, these seasonal sessions are a favorite for many of my Utah County and Salt Lake County families—and for good reason!
Whether you’re hoping for fresh photos for your holiday cards, a quick family refresh, or something short and sweet for your little ones, mini sessions are designed to give you beautiful results in less time.
What Is a Mini Session?
Think of it as a shortened full session. Mini sessions are scheduled by me on set dates and at hand-picked locations throughout Utah County and Salt Lake County. They’re typically 20 minutes long and include:
-
35+ edited images
-
An online gallery for easy download, printing, and sharing
-
A few poses of the whole family, sibling shots, individuals of each child, and a couple photos of the parents together
These sessions are ideal for families and couples. If you’re looking to include extended family members or need newborn photos, those require a full session to allow for the time and attention they deserve.
What Can You Expect to Receive?
Mini sessions are quick! AND they’re packed with a variety of meaningful moments! Here’s what you’ll usually get:
-
A full-family shot
-
A couple of candid, playful shots
-
Individuals of each child
-
A few sweet moments of just the parents
-
A sibling shot—depending on how the little ones are feeling that day!
That said, mini sessions don’t allow for lots of combinations. If you’re hoping for photos like “mom with the kids” or “dad with each child,” or want to explore a more personalized story, I highly recommend booking a full session.
Benefits of Mini Sessions
-
Quick and efficient: Dads especially love how fast they go!
-
Budget-friendly: A great way to get gorgeous, updated images without committing to a full session.
-
Perfect for holiday cards: Scheduled during key seasons with stunning Utah scenery—spring blossoms, golden fall leaves, and more.
A Few Drawbacks to Keep in Mind
Mini sessions are “fast and furious.” They’re not meant for storytelling or capturing a wide range of emotional moments. Sometimes kids need a little more time to warm up—and that’s totally okay! But if you know your crew does best with a slower pace and more flexibility, a full session might be a better fit.
