There’s something really special about maternity photos—especially when it’s a couple expecting their very first baby. This Utah maternity session with Carley and Noah was one of those quiet, joy-filled evenings where everything came together beautifully. From the soft golden light to the lake, mountains, and wild grasses—it felt like a little pocket of calm before the sweet chaos of parenthood begins.

A Thoughtful Gift from a First-Time Dad

This session was actually booked and planned by Noah for his wife, Carley. He reached out wanting to give her something meaningful to mark this season of their life together, and I just love how intentional that is. It’s not every day that a husband plans a maternity session start to finish, and it made the whole evening that much more special.

Carley looked absolutely radiant in a flowing white dress that caught the breeze perfectly. Noah wore soft greens that blended beautifully with the lush surroundings—green grasses, clusters of white wildflowers, beige reeds, and scattered trees. The color palette was peaceful and earthy, and it photographed so well against the mountain lake backdrop.

Why I Love Maternity Photography in Utah

As a Utah maternity photographer, I’m constantly in awe of the scenery we have right in our backyard. There are few places more breathtaking than a lake tucked beneath the mountains, especially in late spring or early summer when everything is coming back to life.

Maternity sessions like this are a chance to slow down and soak in the moment before everything changes. There’s a quiet anticipation in these images—a look between two people who are about to step into something brand new together.

Planning Your Own Maternity Session

If you’re searching for Utah maternity photos, I’d love to help you plan a session. Whether it’s a peaceful mountain lake like this one, a wildflower meadow, or a cozy in-home session, maternity photography is all about capturing that in-between moment where life is about to grow in the most beautiful way.

Here are a few things to consider as you plan:

  • Timing: I recommend scheduling your session between 28–34 weeks—when your bump is showing beautifully but you’re still comfortable moving around.

  • Outfits: Flowy dresses are perfect for movement and comfort. Neutrals, soft earth tones, and light fabrics always photograph beautifully.

  • Location: Utah has so many stunning natural spots. I can help suggest locations based on the vibe you want—water, mountains, open fields, or forest.

If you’re a soon-to-be parent (or planning a session as a sweet surprise like Noah did!), let’s chat about creating something beautiful for your growing family. Please inquire through this form here or follow along with my work on Instagram.
