Utah Capitol Cherry Blossoms | Family and Senior Pictures. I know it’s hard to believe with the absolutely bitter winter we’ve been having, but spring is right around the corner. Thank goodness! This means now is the time to contact your photographer for beautiful blossoms in your family or senior pictures.
The capitol in spring is absolutely stunning and a fan-favorite for a reason. The cherry blossoms provide the perfect backdrop for showcasing your beautiful family or letting your senior shine. Because the capitol blossoms are extremely popular, I typically shoot this location on weekday evenings to beat the crowds. When you reach out we will discuss times that typically work for your family so when the blossoms begin to bloom we are ready. Once the trees start flowering they typically last about two weeks and you’ll be glad you reached out early!
Timing the blossoms right can be stressful, but that doesn’t mean your session has to be! I provide prompts to help you feel confident in front of the camera and focus on capturing genuine moments that you will cherish for a long time.

The Utah State Capitol Blossoms are every SLC Photographers dream. They are not only a photographers dream, but also incredibly famous. For the two weeks that these incredible blossoms are here, the Capitol grounds are filled with onlookers. When I think of a location that is the epitome of springtime in Utah, this is it!
Planning for your Utah State Capitol Blossoms Session
EXPECT TO A WEEKDAY OR EARLY MORNING SESSION
The capitol is extremely busy during the two weeks that these blossoms are in bloom. People from all over flock to the Capitol. Planning to do your session on a weeknight or early morning is the best idea to get a good spot, and be able to avoid huge crowds.
WHAT IS PARKING LIKE
Parking is busy! It is free, so you won’t have to worry about that! I would definitely plan to arrive 20 minutes before your session will begin to ensure that you have parking, and time to find your sessions spot.
WHERE IS THE UTAH STATE CAPITOL LOCATED
The cherry trees are around the whole property of the Utah State Capitol building. To find the capitol you will go to 350 State St, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
WHEN WILL TE CAPITOL BLOSSOMS BLOOM
The Cherry blossoms usually bloom the first week of April. They last for about 2 weeks. A perfect way to hear firsthand when they are blooming is by following the Utah Capitol Instagram page.

Utah Cherry Blossoms Family Photography is a beautiful event. Each year, these beautiful blossoms bloom. Our state is incredibly beautiful and these blossoms are always magical for the short time they are here!
Important FAQs about Utah Cherry Blossom Photography
- This beautiful session was done up at Manning Orchard near Kaysville. This beautiful Orchard allows for photos to be done for a minimal fee of $35 dollars. Spots fill up fast here, so I always suggest that you plan ahead when hoping to book a session here. Blossoms usually come out mid April and last about 2-3 weeks.
- Be sure when booking your photographer that they know how to shoot in blossoms. Blossoms are incredible, and can be hard to capture correctly. Many people are unable to to keep the detail or visibility of the blossoms.
- There is only a short window for when blossoms will be beautiful and at their peak. Utah spring weather is always so unpredictable. If there is a storm during the few weeks that they have bloomed, some may be damaged and trees may be less full. The good news is, blossoms are ALWAYS incredible!
