Being a Utah Newborn Photographer is such a blessing! I love being able to capture the pure JOY and almost heaven like experience each time I walk into a home to capture a newborn. There is not much more beautiful than a growing family welcoming a sweet baby into the world.
Preparing your your Utah Newborn Photographer Session
OUTFITS COLOR SCHEME
You will want to pick a color scheme that will work with your home, or the studio you plan to have your session in. Typically I suggest to go with neutrals. A neutral color scheme will ALWAYS be timeless. You never have to be afraid of the color cream going out of style!
PICK A GOOD SWADDLE
A swaddle is key to a happy and calm newborn session. I do aim to grab photos of your baby without the swaddle to capture their tiny details. However, swaddle helps baby feel calm and sleepy. You will not want to have an obnoxious colored or overly patterned swaddle in the photos you plan to print and treasure. Go with something that will fit the aesthetic you are going for. Another tip is to pick a swaddle that has some stretch to it! These kinds keep baby bundled nicely. I recommend these Lou Lou and Company or Mebie Baby.
WEAR SOMETHING COMFORTABLE
I highly suggest wearing something comfortable and flowy. Hormones are all over the place in the weeks following birth. Go for something breathable!

Tibble Fork Family pictures are always incredible! Truly. This location is absolutely beautiful year round. With there being so many pine trees and a beautiful mountain scape, Tibble Fork Family Pictures are even gorgeous in the dead of winter. Spring brings beautiful greens with the aspen trees and grasses. Summer is obviously stunning with the greens and yellow grasses, and finally fall with its incredible colors in these mountains!

Natural, fun family posing is something I live for! As a mother, I have watched and noticed what causes beautiful interactions between my own children. I love to look for little moments that bring joy between individuals and groups. Mothers often worry that with all of their children, that family photos will be a complete disaster. I can promise you that this will not be the case! There will be chaos, but it will be BEAUTIFUL chaos. You can be assured that I provide fun prompts that allow your children to have fun, and not dread family photos.

Before the Session
My dear friend Allison has been a photographer for the Smithey Family for many years. She recently relocated. She was sad that she would be unable to capture their last baby’s lifestyle newborn session. Allison reached out to me because she wanted to make sure they had the same quality experience as their previous children had.
I couldn’t have been more excited when I began to chat with Rebecca Smithey. She reached out to me to schedule their session. Once our scheduled session date had arrived, I texted Rebecca and let her know how excited I was to spend the morning doing their newborn session. I arrived at the address listed in our contract, knocked at the door and waited. When no one came to the door, I called Rebecca and found out that the address I was at, was actually her parents’! I had missed an email from her, with her home address! In situations like this you have just got to roll with the punches! We quickly remedied the situation and decided to do their session at her parents house.
During the Session
Rebecca has THREE adorable little boys and thought it would be easiest to meet where her parents could help out. While I waited for them, I had the chance to meet and chat with her incredibly sweet parents. Get this – they even have the perfect little nursery in their home!
When Rebecca arrived her cute boys, Mathew, James and Andrew – they could NOT wait to introduce me to their newest member, Josie. This girl is going to have a band of brothers to keep her safe throughout life. Each one of them wanted to hold, hug, kiss and be in pictures with her during they’re lifestyle newborn session.
I could tell there was worry about how excited and rambunctious these boys were, but I personally enjoy this! Children aren’t afraid to hold back their emotion, and so watching them look tenderly, laugh with or play with each other is so beautiful and special.

Utah is funny. End of November is supposed to feel freezing, a bit frosty or even a little snowy. Well, this darling couple was lucky enough to have beautiful warmth from the sun and a lovely mild evening!
Kaitlyn and Keefin are darling. You meet them and feel love and excitement. Kaitlyn was perfectly dolled up in her princess bridal gown, and ready for her sweet love to finally see all she had been planning for him.
These “first look” moments are some of my favorite. Some tear up, some giggle, and some stand in awe. This cute couple did a little of all three! From then on, the rest of the evening just passed us by! I adore brides, but I really adore those brides are just can’t help but stare at the one they love without a worry of those who are around them. These moments are what I live for as a photographer! Enjoy this LOVELY, stunning couple.
