What does a Newborn Session entail?
Flexible scheduling. First, we’ll work together to choose a date and time for your newborn picture session. I completely understand that babies have their own timelines, so if you reach out before baby is here, we will set a tentative time and confirm after they’re here.
Detail portraits. The star of the show here will be your newborn! We will spend time capturing all of the precious details of your new little babe – from their fuzzy head down to their beautiful toes. We can take a mix of swaddled and un-swaddled pictures of baby, so you have images to cherish for a lifetime.
Family shots. Don’t fret! Even though this is labeled a “newborn session” we will definitely take time to get pictures of mom, dad & any siblings, too. We’ll focus on getting a mix of lifestyle + posed pictures of everyone so you have a diverse gallery to swoon over.
A beautiful gallery forever. Your newborn family photos with me will include high-resolution, edited images delivered in a digital online gallery with the rights to print.

Why Choose an In-Home Newborn Session | Best Utah Newborn Photographer. This beautiful Bluffdale Newborn Session in the Taulbee home, was the sweetest. Sweet Baby J was welcomed into a beautiful home with the most loving family! There was a beautiful JOY that could be felt from the moment I entered into their home. One thing you will notice about these images is how “at-home” this family feels. Here are a few reasons why.
Reasons for Choosing an In-Home Newborn Session?
I have done countless newborn sessions in-home, and in natural light studios. Both kinds of sessions have awesome benefits, and some small flaws. I think it’s helpful for families to be educated on both options.
Comfort
Many families will choose an in-home newborn session because they feel more comfortable in their own home. Older children can especially benefit from experiencing this kind of session in their home. Feeling more at home allows children to open up, be themselves and most of all – feel safe. A new siblings arrival can be stressful, so an environment conducive to comfort is so helpful. You’ll notice in a few photos that big brother is playing dinosaurs with the Baby J. Because we were in his home with his own toys, he was able to “play” with his new baby brother in a natural way.
More Personal
In-home sessions can be more personal. There is something so special about bringing a brand new baby home, to their first home. Laying your baby in their own crib, on your own bed or rocked in the rocking chair you have rocked all your children. Your home evokes a kind of emotion that you may not get in a studio. Your families personality may shine through in these images better, because your home is styled to your liking.
Ease
The ease of being able to “show-up” to your newborn session in your own home can be a huge perk to some! You do not have to load children into the car, or stress about traffic. To others this may actually be more stressful!

- Pick one or two rooms with really great light.
- Have those one or two rooms be picked up as best you can, but don’t worry about perfection
- When in doubt, go with simple! You don’t need to do a whole room “refresh” for your session to turn out beautifully.
- Pick an outfit you are comfortable in!! Ex. If you get hot easily, wear something that flows and is loose. If you are nursing, where something with easy access.

As a lifestyle newborn photographer, this was so special to shoot. Something about adding your very first newborn to your family is incredibly tender. Brytyn reached out to me, wanting to chat about booking a Fresh 48 and Newborn Session for her first baby. Her and her boyfriend Ben were incredibly excited to be waiting for their sweet baby boys arrival!
The thing I love about Fresh 48 sessions, is that you’re on baby watch, and it’s just so fun waiting to find out when that new baby is going to arrive. Sweet baby Jayce just wanted to join his mama and dad sooner, and came a couple of weeks early!
I’ve always got sitters who I can call for when babes come early, but this time my cute in-laws were in town, so this was perfect and going to be even more fun for my son!
Excitedly I drove to the Hospital to officially meet Brytyn, Benjamin and sweet Jayce for the first time! Oh that new baby smell, and that sweet beautiful boy. My heart just about melted when I met little Jayce for the first time. I’m a sucker for new babies, which probably explains why I love, and specialize in Fresh 48 + Lifestyle Newborn Sessions.
I quickly began to just think Brytyn is the cutest, and sweets person. She stepped into her role as a mother so beautifully and effortlessly. The whole session went by so quickly because both her and Benjamin were just the easiest, funniest people to hang-out with.
All I can say is this was such a BEAUTIFUL Fresh 48 Session, filled with so much love.
When the time came to leave, I sure did not want to! But that good news was that I would be able to see them again during their Lifestyle Newborn Session, so that was something to look forward to!
Don’t worry, there is a beautiful Newborn Session to come, but for now…..
